I wrote “A Beautiful Life” back in 2012. I was burned out, spending all my energy on trying wiggle my way around the music business. In essence, I was trying to figure out what every else wanted to hear and see, and then model that. Working that way is exhausting. And a waste of lifetime and creative energy.
I thought, “I am so very tired of this. Is it that important? Why not stop trying to dominate and run the rat race…and instead sit still and enjoy the simple fact that I am alive, enjoying this amazing gift of living?”
What sweet calm and happiness I have found in that. Gone is the desire for fame or glory. In its place is a gratitude for what I have, the itch to create, and the satisfaction of paying forward kindness.
It’s a beautiful life when you stop to look sometimes
This is a sign
I’m going to take the time to sit and watch the world go by
‘Cause usually I am racing forward so fast
I miss a lot of the life that slipped past
Now what a beautiful life I see, here from the sidelines
