Well, for Jos\u00e9 and I&#8230;.we know our favorite answer to that question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mural at New Market School pulls together just about everything we love about art, the world, and the Art We There Yet project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe width=\"760\" height=\"415\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uJXvW3WO5tE\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The mural depicts landmarks from around the globe, bringing the wide world into the hallways of a small school in rural Alabama. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We joke that now students have to walk through the world to get to class! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope it sparks curiousity in every student that walks past it &#8211; curiosity in the world, in other cultures, and the desire to go see these places in real life!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The value of a mural for school<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s not just the value of the art itself.  It&#8217;s the students&#8217; experience contributing to their community.  The children at New Market School soaked up this project, painting with such enthusiasm it was infectious! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For years to come, they will know that they painted something inspiring and beautiful for all the students that came after.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1440\" height=\"1128\" src=\"http:\/\/artwethereyet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/school-mural-art-we-there-yet-new-market.jpg\" alt=\"mural for school\" class=\"wp-image-3360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artwethereyet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/school-mural-art-we-there-yet-new-market.jpg 1440w, https:\/\/artwethereyet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/school-mural-art-we-there-yet-new-market-768x602.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Their time painting had special meaning as well, because budget cuts have made official art classes a struggle for <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"New Market School (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcssk12.org\/Domain\/37\" target=\"_blank\">New Market School<\/a>. The school currently shares its art teacher with four schools, resulting in only 9 instructional hours of art class per year. So the hour that students spent painting this mural was really something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The value of dedicated educators<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like at Maureen Phend at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/artwethereyet.com\/blog\/2019\/09\/20\/tanglewood-middle-school-art-yet-mural\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tanglewood<\/a>, a uniquely dedicated educator brought us to New Market.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Amber Moore  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcssk12.org\/domain\/1774\" target=\"_blank\">Amber Moore<\/a> contacted us early on in the Art We There Yet conversion.  So from the get-go, we planned on stopping through New Market.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Educators like Amber and Maureen are the lifeblood of education.  Without teachers like them, we would be in dire straights.
