Now your next step is to frame your skoolie side walls and finish them with plywood.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s how we built a frame and installed plywood to the side walls of our skoolie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This video goes hand-in-hand with the step-by-step guide below (minutes 7:00-8:00). The quantity and length of furring strips you need will depend on how much wall space you&#8217;ve built into your design. The upper squares are where your windows sit. Pre-drill those holes, even if you&#8217;re using self-tapping screws.  Even with self tappers, the heavy duty frame of the bus is strong enough to result in broken screw heads.  Once you have a broken screw head, you have quite a job of getting that busted screw out.  Avoid that whole fiasco by pre-drilling the holes.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Cut plywood to size &amp; secure to frame<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\"><li>Cut the plywood into panels using a tablesaw.  Use a jig saw for custom adjustments like holes for outlets.  The size and shape of your plywood panels will depend completely on your bus design. Your side walls are now ready for whatever finishing paint you are going to cover them with!  We used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/7-32-in-x-48-in-x-96-in-White-Nickel-Gap-Shiplap-Panel-WSP5548\/308169642?source=shoppingads&amp;locale=en-US&amp;pla&amp;mtc=Shopping-BF-F_D30-G-D30-030_027_PANELING-NA-NA-NA-LIA-NA-NA&amp;cm_mmc=Shopping-BF-F_D30-G-D30-030_027_PANELING-NA-NA-NA-LIA-NA-NA-71700000052659303-58700005045840622-92700044042640870&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiAsNKQBhAPEiwAB-I5zbD4NVVFtP4DwBvswvM2g_y8JLZOTcBbVuBWw6rblKR-ukVVsOsleBoCq50QAvD_BwE&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this stuff<\/a> in some parts of the bus.  In others, we used scraps of 1\/4 inch plywood, painting with leftover paint from the exterior, and secured to the underlying plywood with invisible nails.  But we&#8217;re getting ahead of ourselves! That&#8217;s part of another guide coming up!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Tip: You shouldn&#8217;t start framing out your walls until your subfloor is in place. Here&#8217;s why.  If your bus is like ours, there is a slight lip at the bottom of the lower wall panel.  When you <a href=\"https:\/\/artwethereyet.com\/blog\/school-bus-conversion-subfloor-insulation\/\">install your floor insulation and plywood subfloor<\/a>, you elimate this inconvenient lip by cutting a groove into the overlying plywood.
