A Song from the Tanglewood Choir

by Art We There Yet? January 22, 2020
FacebookTwitterPinterest

When we were at Tanglewood Middle School, we were pedal-to-the-medal working on two murals.  But every now and then, I would break away to give tours of the bus to students.

One day the Tanglewood Choir came out to see the bus.  We did an impromptu recording session, cramming all thirteen of us into the studio!

The camera was being used at the sensory path, so unfortunately, we didn’t film it.  But we have this photo taken by choir director, Jessica Pisano.

What I love about Tanglewood is the strong sense of commradery and positivity in the school community.  The teachers and staff at Tanglewood have worked very hard to build this, and it I could see it in action with the Tanglewood Choir.

They brought such joy into the studio, and such support for the two soloists.  “Lean On Me” is their favorite song to sing as a group. I think that is only fitting!

About Tanglewood Middle School

Tanglewood Middle School is a Title 1 middle school in Greenville, South Carolina. Many of Tanglewood’s students come from low-income families, and the school’s district lines extend through particularly rough areas of Greenville.

An extremely inspiring thing about Tanglewood is the dedication of teachers, administration, and staff. And the sense of community and trust they have cultivated at the school.
