Writing “It’s Always Better”
This songwriting workshop was special and unique. A multi-age group of dear friends who nearly count as family, I didn’t need to work on getting everyone comfortable sharing ideas here!
We started by looking at the song like a three-layered cake: chords, lyrics, and melody. The students then worked together so beautifully to craft this little tune. They went from zero to a produced recording – in just a few short hours! The chord progression, lyrics, and melody of this song is entirely their collaborative creation.
Our visit with The Art Factory
The Art Factory is located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. We passed through on our way out from New Orleans, where we spent a month in post-production and filming our first experimental film.
Our time with The Art Factory was wonderful. I conducted this songwriting workshop, and José also did a photography workshop for the grown-ups!
We were so inspired by the vim and vigor of the Art Factory community! From ceramics, to painting, to screen printing, and everything in between – the arts abound in this space! We were so happy to pass through, even for just a brief time.
