When I lived in Nashville, my friends and I frequented many of the same open mics and house concerts. Each of us had a song that we often sang, and over time we became each other’s back-up singers.
It was great fun. Whether it was from the crowd or onstage, we would all chime in to bring that extra layer of depth and beauty to those songs.
For me, that song was “Send in the Angels”. Over time, my friends’ rendition of the harmonies became part of the song. So much so, that when I recorded it, it was only natural that they sang on the recording.
So when you listen to “Send in the Angels” on the album, Time Marches Forward, there is Aubryn, Haley Dreis, Mary Jennings, Melanie Dewey (MELD), and Tracee Perrin. All are amazing songwriters and performers that you really should check out!
Four Friends in a Bus
Jose and I made a quick pass through Nashville on the Art We There Yet journey. When we did, four of us were able to gather in the bus.
We hadn’t seen each other for three years. The last time I had seen them, I was packing up my life to move to China. So it was a sweet visit. We drank tea and coffee, told stories, laughed, shared life updates.
And sang “Send in the Angels”.
